In August, Caleb’s US Passport was issued and he was officially acknowledged as a US citizen. However, technically, Caleb was in Cambodia illegally because he is a foreign national without a Cambodian visa.
As is in the case in many countries, Cambodian visas can only be renewed – not issued – inside the country. So we had to apply for an exit visa for Caleb to leave Cambodia and then travel to a nearby Cambodian Embassy for him to apply for a Cambodian visa.
The Cambodian Embassy in Bangkok, Thailand was the easiest one for us to travel to. We gathered our documents and traveled to Thailand as soon as Caleb’s exit visa was issued.
The Cambodian Embassy staff were very helpful and assisted us with the application. It takes three days for the Visa application to be processed and the Visa to be issued, so we had some time to do sightseeing in Bangkok. At least that was the plan but then Charlotte got sick so we didn’t get to do as much as a family as we had hoped.
Called appears happy about the whole thing. :). Hope Crystal will be feeling well very soon.
He’s a good spirited little one. We’re all recovered now but it was a rough couple of weeks.
