Three New Service Worker Positions with MCC Cambodia

It seems hard to believe but our Peace Coordinators, Rory and Marcia, have 10 months left in their term of service with MCC. It seems like only yesterday that we were praying desperately for their safe arrival after their flights were delayed because a plane collided with theirs while taxing on the runway in Philadelphia and it seemed like they might be denied entry into Cambodia due to their COVID tests being older than 72 hours. They have done fantastic work here in Cambodia in their role as Peace Coordinators especially in response to the coup in Myanmar, localizing MCC’s peace club curriculum, and in starting a new project with Peace Bridges. They also played a critical role in interceding for Disha in the hours immediately after her catastrophic stroke and were mentors to several MCC Cambodia and partner staff.

As we begin recruitment for their successors, we’ve decided to split Peace Coordinator into two separate positions – one focused on peacebuilding in Cambodia and one focused on humanitarian response. We are also recruiting for a new service worker position focused on Climate Change adaption and mitigation. This lets us be open to a single person or a couple applying for multiple roles that fit their skillsets and interests.

  • The Peaceful Education Coordinator whose primary roles will be to oversee the peace club program in rural primary schools and provide accompaniment to our local partners Women Peace Makers / Peace Bridges Organization. This position is based at the field office in Prey Veng town. Background in Education, Peacebuilding, or related field preferred.
  • The Climate Solutions Partner Advisor whose primary role will be to provide accompaniment to our local partners Cambodian Rural Development Team and Organization to Develop Our Villages, supporting them in strengthening their climate solutions and bringing proven solutions to scale. This position is flexible, based out of the field office in Prey Veng town, the national office in Phnom Penh, or an individual office in Kratie town. Background in Environmental Science, Development, or related field preferred.
  • The Humanitarian Response Partner Advisor whose primary roles will be to remotely support MCC partners in Myanmar and to provide accompaniment to the returnee reintegration program at KVAO (formerly RiSC/RiSP). This position is likely based in Phnom Penh where KVAO is located, but we are flexible in case a couple applies for two positions so Kratie town or Prey Veng town would be options. Background in Public Health, Peacebuilding, Social Work, or related field preferred.

Please pray for these service worker placements and that God will open doors for the right people to respond to them. Please pray, as always, for Christ’s healing and hope in Cambodia and Myanmar. And, if you know of someone who might be called for these roles, please nominate them. សូមអរគុណ។
