I thought I’d share some photos from our six hour layover at the Incheon Airport in Seoul. The airport was much quieter than normal, far fewer passengers and many closed shops. Yet there was still plenty to see and do.
Let’s start with the robots. There’s airporter – who will carry your bags to your terminal – and the other one who is basically a photo opportunity/mobile map terminal.
Most of the shops and restaurants were closed when we transited through the airport, but we packed ‘breakfast’ and enjoyed it in a classy glassy section of the airport.
There were several play areas scattered throughout the terminals.
There were also cultural displays from the National Museum of Korea.
We must not forget the gigantic pink fox wearing a crown.
Sadly, this won’t include the cultural experience where transit visitors can dress in traditional Korean raiment because the girls just weren’t feeling up for it (hopefully they’ll feel up for it on the return flight). But we can include a video of the procession that came through the terminal in the afternoon every hour or so.
So Incheon is a fantastic airport to transit through. I also enjoyed Singapore’s and I’ve heard good things about Tokyo. Taipei is functional. Avoid Hong Kong.
I’ve never experienced an airport layover like that!! What a fabulous and fun place!!
