Last month we celebrated Charlotte’s 8th birthday in isolation. All four of us had COVID-19 at the time but, fortunately, the birthday girl had the mildest symptoms of the four of us. She had been hoping for a birthday party with her friends from school but, while disappointed, was completely understanding of the situation.
At Charlotte’s request, I made homemade mango frosting for her birthday cake using fresh mangos from the trees beside our house. The frosting was incredibly delicious, if I say so myself, but every time I make frosting it just runs everywhere and this was no exception. What a delicious mess. We were also out of birthday candles but she didn’t mind.
Charlotte spent most of the day playing with her dear little sister. Catherine had given her a “Frienas” building set, a cheap knock-off of Lego Friends that we found in the market, and they had a great time telling wild stories with it.
We also made a change to our daily gratitude time to celebrate Charlotte. Instead of sharing something that we’re grateful for about the day, each of us took the opportunity to share things about Charlotte that we’re grateful for.
Happy 8th Birthday sweet Charlotte!! The mango frosting sounds delicious! Excited about celebrating each of you and your special days, when you visit 🥰 🥰🥰🥰
