Brazilian Cuisine is a restaurant in Phnom Penh run by Tida En and his family. By day, Tida is an IT professional who runs his own IT business, runs IT for an anti-trafficking NGO, and runs IT for an international Christian school. But, since that’s not enough running, several evenings a week Tida also runs a Brazilian restaurant out of his house.
You might ask what made Tida, a Cambodian, decide to open an authentic Brazilian restaurant in Phnom Penh? (I can say that it’s authentic because Crystal, who grew up in Brazil, said it was ‘the taste of her childhood’.) Well, Tida spent a year in Canada with MCC’s International Volunteer Exchange Program (IVEP) and during that time he became very close to the IVEP participant from Brazil. They have two kids now. They lived in Brazil for awhile, then in Cambodia, then back to Brazil, and now they’re in Cambodia again. While in Brazil the second time, Tida made a point to learn how to make its delicious cuisine (of course that’s also a great way to learn language).
These photos are all from last year. Brazilian Cuisine is currently closed to prevent the spread of COVID-19 but Tida has been posting photos of himself building a new grill so we’ll be over as soon as it’s open again. Wow! Can hardly wait to taste it!
