Pchum Benh is a long series of ceremonies honoring the dead. The week long holiday is actually the conclusion of these ceremonies when most Cambodians travel back to their ancestral homelands and perform ceremonies to honor their ancestors. I’ll write a more detailed post on this another time but in Phnom Penh it is the quietest time of the year as the city empties out.
Last year, I came down with Dengue Fever and was laid out for the whole of the week long Pchum Ben holiday. This year all four of us have gotten ill over Pchum Ben with high fevers. Let’s hope this isn’t the start of a new holiday tradition. Crystal was planning to learn to ride moto on the quieter streets but we ended up in the house sick for most of the holiday.
The Doctor thinks it’s viral. Charlotte was the first to get ill and the first to recover. Crystal and Catherine were next. I was the last to fall ill. Crystal has been fever free for 24 hours now but Catherine and I are still working through it. Hopefully we’ll all be back in good health soon.
Get well soon. We also hope this does not develop into a family tradition!!š·šā¤
Hope you are all feeling well again very soon!
Speedy recovery to you and Catherine. Grateful the other 2 Cs have recovered!! So much love to each of you. Healing prayers continue.
So sorry to hear! May you all make a speedy recovery and get back to school, work, and moto riding practice! Our prayers are with you, God bless!
thinking of you and praying for a speedy recovery.
Being ill in a different country can be scary. Our kids got sick with a “strange skin disease” in rural Cambodia. Turns out it was good ole chicken pox! So I know you’ll be ok as your bodies adjust to the viruses in Cambodia! I’m sending a prayer with my comment here.
