COVID-19: Because they feed the poor

In my last post on COVID-19, I suggested that perhaps we are in our positions for such a time as this. I ended that post by sharing photos of generosity from North America that I’d seen on social media.

“Blessed are those who are generous, because they feed the poor.”

Proverbs 22:9 (NLT)

Since then some of our Cambodian staff have shared photos with us of similar things happening here in Cambodia. I wanted to share them with you as well.

Free to the poor and vulnerable.
Free to those who need it.

This pandemic is a global crisis and – around the world – communities are supporting each other. As our staff said when she shared the photos with us, “Humanity is rising.”

People distributing two tons of rice to a poor community living on an old garbage dump just outside of Phnom Penh.

It’s not wrong to pay attention to the stories of greed, selfishness, foolishness, and irresponsibility that have occurred during this crisis. In fact, it’s important that we listen and learn from them.

“Don’t be afraid!” Elisha told him. “For there are more on our side than on theirs!”

2 Kings 6:16 (NLT)

But please remember that while these negative stories demand our attention that there are many more stories of individuals making sacrifices and doing what they can to help their communities.

Yes. I’ll be sharing details on our initial and longer term responses soon. This will include detailed information, including diagrams, on how to distribute aid without transmitting COVID-19.
