Ta Prohm is my favorite of the ruins in Siem Reap province. This starts with the walk through jungle from the perimeter wall to the temple ruins. This post will be video and photo heavy, so please mind your bandwidth, but I included some quick text at the end offering some background on Ta Prohm.

So that was a lot of photos and videos. I wanted to take you along on the girl’s journey and that seemed like the best way to do it, but it really slowed down the blog on this end.
Ta Prohm literally means ‘Ancestor Brahma‘ and is the colloquial name given to what was originally the royal monastery. It is one of three UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Cambodia. Restoration efforts at most ruins in Siem Reap have focused on preservation and restoring a semblance of original form, but Ta Prohm has been an exception due to it’s magnificent trees. Restoration at Ta Prohm has taken care not to disrupt the trees and, as seen above, their locations are even marked on the site map. Ta Prohm is most famous internationally for being the temple featured in the movie ‘Lara Croft: Tomb Raider‘ which…always felt like a bit of a shame to me as it is such a fantastic intermingling of civilization and nature.
Beautiful!
We’re looking forward to taking you there someday. The girls will be fun tour guides.
