Our tickets have been booked! We leave for Phnom Penh on August 8. Here’s a quick breakdown of what’s going on for us between now and then.
- Tomorrow: Our first meeting with the wonderful support group from Plains Mennonite (our wonderful home church)
- June 7: The girls’ last day at Salford Mennonite Childcare Center
- June 9: Present about Cambodia at Plains Mennonite’s Sunday School
- June 12: Crystal’s last day in the Upper Perk School District
- June 18: My last day at Peaceful Living
- June 22-29: Conklin family vacation
- July 4: ‘You are welcome’ event at Plains Mennonite Park
- July 6-13: Graber family vacation
- July 15: MCC Orientation/Leadership Seminar in Akron, PA starts
- July 21: Blessing/Sending Service at Fairfield Mennonite (my childhood Church)
- August 7: MCC Leadership Seminar ends
- August 8: Leave for Phnom Penh from the Philadelphia airport
- August 10: Arrive in Phnom Penh at 10:15AM (if there are no delays)
Between then and now we have a lot of logistics to wrap up! We’ve made good progress on downsizing/packing and I think we’ve purchased most of what we want to take (like youth moto helmets). But there’s always more that can be done on that front. We have appointments coming up for vaccinations, eye exams, dental exams, etc. We also need to write our will, figure out mailing addresses, remove our names from the utilities, and assign our powers of attorney. It feels like a lot but – item by item – we’re steadily working through the to-do list.
Things sound like they are shaping up great 🙂
What site can I use to track your flights?
I used https://flightaware.com/ to track Crystal’s flights to/from Phnom Penh. It has a visual flight map which is helpful when following flights across timezones. I’ll post more on that closer to departure time.
