It’s the most wonderful time of the year… Ripe mangoes from the Cambodian countryside have started to show up in the market!
I was fairly ambivalent to mangoes before traveling to Việt Nam in University. That’s when I discovered that the mangoes that I’d been eating in North America were poor representatives of their species. There’s nothing like a fresh ripe mango.
This isn’t really the most wonderful time of the year in Cambodia. Not yet, this is just a foretaste of things to come. Proper mango season in Cambodia is usually from March to May.
From March to May, fresh ripe mangoes become so inexpensive and abundant that – if were even possible – one would become sick of the delicious treasure of a fruit. I’m looking forward to it!
That sounds so delicious. I miss you Charles. We are praying for you and your family.
Thanks Leland! I’m not feeling homesick by any stretch…but I do miss working with all of you day to day. We had some good times and good rapport.
Yummy! We had a tree in our yard in Brazil…great memories!!
They look delicious!! Hope to taste a “real” mango during my visit!! I don’t know, the girls just don’t seem to like fruit very much, do they…(joking) nice to see their happy faces.
Refrigerator cold or made into homemade ice cream – best treat in the world!
